What is the Surrey HEAT programme?

HEAT stands for Home Energy Advice Team. Energy Action Redhill and Reigate is the local delivery organisation in East Surrey for the Surrey-wide HEAT programme.
Over Winter, our Energy Champions offer free home energy surveys. We take thermal images of your home - showing where heat is leaking
-
We run through some questions about your heating and insulation so we can offer tailored advice
-
After the survey you receive a written report about ways you can improve the energy efficiency and comfort of your home and potentially save on bills
-
Where suitable, we can provide free energy efficiency materials such as draughtproofing and low energy lightbulbs.
-
If your loft insulation is insufficient we can provide free free/subsidised rolls of loft insulation for self-installation.
-
We can also signpost you to other funding schemes to help with larger energy efficiency measures such as wall insulation or solar panels.

Our Winter surveys with thermal imaging will start again in November 2025. You can register below for priority booking.
is my home eligible?
Our main priority is to reach "Hard to Heat" homes. This means homes that have an Energy Performance Certificate of D or below, or who don't yet have an EPC.

You can check whether your home has an EPC free of charge by visiting the government website www.gov.uk/find-energy-certificate

We do have some flexibility with our criteria for homes with an EPC of C. For example, if anyone in your household has a disability, is from an ethnic minority or if you are struggling to pay your energy bills, then we can offer you a survey.
How much does it cost?
Thanks to external funding, the survey is free of charge to all eligible households.
How do I take part?Â
Click on the "Register Interest" button to register your interest. We will contact you in October 2025 to confirm your eligibility and give you priority access to book your survey.

The survey can be booked at a time and date that is convenient to you. It will take around 45 minutes to one hour to complete. We will provide some advice during the visit and we aim to follow up within three weeks with a written report plus delivery of any free energy efficiency materials that are suggested.

Save money
Cut your energy bills by using energy more efficiently. We can show you where heat is escaping and how to reduce this, as well as other cost effective ways to reduce your energy use.

Stay Warm
Keep the heat inside your home by improving insulation and reducing draughts. We can provide access to loft insulation and energy efficiency "smart packs" to create an energy efficient and cosy home.

Go green
By reducing your energy use you will also be reducing your carbon footprint - as most energy is still created using fossil fuels. Good for you and good for the planet!
