Since our formation in 2022, Energy Action Redhill and Reigate has been on a mission to improve the energy efficiency of homes across East Surrey.
In 2023 we delivered our first "Leaky Homes Roadshow" providing around 100 home energy surveys with just two thermal cameras!
In 2024, thanks to funding from UK Power Networks, we expanded the Roadshow to include energy efficiency "smart packs" and loft insulation. Through ongoing publicity and word of mouth, interest in the surveys grew and over 200 households have taken part so far this year.
Looking forward to Winter 2025 we are aiming to build on our experience and reach even more homes, whilst also improving the range of support we offer.
Part of the Surrey-Wide HEAT team
Energy Action Redhill and Reigate is working in partnership with Zero Carbon Guildford as one of the local delivery partners for the Surrey-wide "Home Energy Advice Taskforce" (also known as HEAT).
(HEAT is a key part of Surrey County Council's Local Energy Advice Demonstrator project and is ultimately funded by national government as a way of testing out effective ways to make homes more energy-efficient.)
What's new for 2025?
A Jump start - we are launching the 2025 Roadshow in November 2024, aiming to maximise the number of winter surveys we can complete.
Day time surveys - whilst thermal imaging outside works better in the evenings, we recognised that not all households are keen to welcome visitors after dark. So this year we are also offering surveys on Wednesday and Friday mornings. On sunny days, thermal imaging won't work outside, but we can still use the cameras inside your home to detect cold draughts. Evening surveys are still available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.
Drop Ins and Events - We are keen to talk to more local residents about all things energy related. We will be trialling Talks and Drop In events at local libraries and churches - see Events on our home page. We would be pleased to come and talk to any groups you are involved in.
Wider Support Network - Working as part of the HEAT team we can link in to the growing Surrey support network. This includes projects helpng people struggling with their energy bills (HEAT plus), through to support for households wanting to invest in major home energy improvements (One Stop Shop).
